Abstract
Abstract The main purpose of this article is to examine the people's participation in the public security of the country. This research is of applied research type and in terms of method, it is of mixed type (qualitative and quantitative). The statistical population of the study consisted of 97 persons of university professors, managers of security and political apparatuses, and military and police commanders. In addition to basic studies and review of previous researches, basic information of this research has been collected through interviews and questionnaires and is analyzed at two levels of descriptive and inferential statistics. The research findings show that the society of Iran, especially security and political institutions and agencies, need to continue their efforts to "provide legal platforms for interaction and communication with the people, "emphasis on proliferation of culture and public education (people and organizations responsible for security), "focus on changing structures and decentralization of power and responsibility in institutions that are responsible for security", "attention to the element of social capital and its most constructive component; that is public trust" and "increase the sense of social responsibility".
